At Hockey Events – Northern Rivers, our vision is to create a safe, inclusive and inspiring hockey environment where every young person aged 4 to 18 years has the opportunity to play, learn, grow and belong. We believe hockey should be accessible to all—regardless of background, ability, culture, gender or financial circumstance—and that sport can play a powerful role in building confidence, connection and community. Our goal is to deliver high-quality, age-appropriate training programs, games and events that support young players at every stage of their development, all while maintaining child-safe practices and culturally respectful program design. We welcome Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, culturally and linguistically diverse families, and young people of all abilities.

There are many sporting options, but Hockey Events – Northern Rivers stands out because we believe every child can learn to play hockey—no matter their age, ability, gender, background or prior experience. Our difference lies in how we teach: we don’t expect children to fit into a program; we design our programs to fit the child. Through specialised, age-appropriate coaching, we break down hockey skills into simple, step-by-step techniques that are easy to understand, achievable and fun. This approach allows every child to build confidence, master fundamentals and progress at their own pace. For families, this means a welcoming and supportive environment where children feel safe, included and proud of what they can achieve.
The passion behind our purpose
Hockey Events – Northern Rivers was created by a group of passionate local coaches, volunteers and community champions who share one common belief: every child deserves the chance to experience hockey in a positive, supportive and inclusive environment. We were fired up by seeing young people miss out on sport, not due to lack of interest, but because programs weren’t always designed to meet them where they were at. Our team has spent years working closely with junior players and families, listening to what children actually need to feel confident and excited. We’re driven by the smiles, the small wins, and the moments when a child realises, 'I can do this.' Championing junior hockey isn't just about building better players—it’s about building confident young people, strong connections and a community where everyone feels they belong.
